A Theme Camp Located
Within
Silicon Village
2008 was the third year for some of my installations at BRC, but only the second year as a theme camp. Blow Pod is NOT registered as a theme camp with Burning Man, it is a theme camp within Silicon Village, an all-inclusive community of around 250 burners, primarily from the South Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area, AKA Silicon Valley.
Silicon Village occupies one city block, located between
Dart and Fairlane St., from 6:30 to about 6:15, very close to center camp.
Blow Pod is a theme camp, to be located within the village.

Here is the second
draft of the 2008 camp layout. The Blow feature will go in between the truck and the
SUV
on Dart St, where it should get the best traffic. The Cool Pavilion will
likely go in the opposite
end, where it will be most accessible to the rest of the village. This is
a draft and it did change on the playa.
In 2008 we enjoyed 14 members, two camper trailers, 4,500 sq ft of real estate.
In 2009 I took a bit of a break, not really planning much, no art car, and only six at the camp.
Please use the contact link at the bottom of page if you are interested
in joining our camp in 2010.
Here are a few areas in which we could use help for the next burn:

The Cool Pavilion is a six-sided yurt with 5 foot sides, clad in a breathable natural fiber fabric, and protected from the sun with a second roof, offset by 1 foot. The inside is rigged with misters. Pile in some burners, turn on the misters, the fabric cladding will act as evaporative cooler in the breeze and will keep the occupants nice and comfy in the middle of the day's heat wave. |
